4 Best Method to Recover Router Username and Password in 2021

Did you forget your router username or password? It is the common problem faced by many users, it’s a human error. Without the router username and password, you will not be able to log in to the router configuration page.

Not only that but also you will not able to keep an eye on your internet usage and you will not be able to control the WiFi setting also.

But don’t worry I am going to share the 4 best methods to recover router username and password in 2021. With the help of this, you can easily reset your router and can log in easily to 192.168.0.1 or other default gateways.

Method 1: Router Default Username & Password

This is not a solution or a fix to recover the router’s default username and password. But if you forget the router username and password then you can get it from here. It’s better to try a default username and password first instead of resetting the router.

Because there are chances that you have never changed routers’ default username and password. And also if you reset the router all user configurations including network setting, parental control, and other settings will be wiped out and you need to spend more time to set up the router after a reset.

Almost all the router manufacturers provide the routers detail at the backside of the router which is printed on a black sticker or in the manual in the box. From here you can find details like router username, router password, and default IP Address.

So if you forgot any of the above things like IP Address, Username, or Password, you can look down at your router and get that from there.

Method 2: Recover Router Username and Password from Database

If you can’t get the router username and password from routers back, it may be wiped due to regular use. Then you can also look at this database and can recover the router username and password.

This database contains all the popular router’s information which includes TP-Link, D-Link, Netgear, and many others. Have a look at the below table and find your router username, IP address, and password.

Method 3: Reset Your Router

This is another best method to recover router username and password. With the help of this method, you can reset any router and make all the settings and changes to factory defaults.

So that you can use the default router’s username, IP address, and password printed on the router back. But always keep in mind that resetting the router will reset the whole thing including network setting, parental control, WiFi username, and password, and bring your router to the factory version.

This means you need to set it up again before using it. So always create a backup of all the user information, PPPoE username and password, and WiFi SSID and PSK.

Step 1. Find the Reset button on the router. (Usually located on the backside of the router and sometime in a pinhole to avoid accidental reset)

Step 2. Now press this reset button with help of a pin for almost 10 seconds and then release the button. The router led will start blinking means the reset process has been initiated.

Step 3. The router will automatically restart itself once the factory reset has been done. If the router didn’t automatically restart after 30 seconds then do a force restart.

Now you can log in to your router’s configuration page by visiting the default IP address from any web browser. In username and password, you need to enter the default username and password.

You can find the default username and password from the above method. i.e routers back side or from the database.

Method 4: Forward Port Without Using Password

You can also forward port without knowing the router admin password using the universal plug and play method called UPnP. This allows programs on your computer to “ask” the router to open ports for them.

UnPn enabled routers will automatically open the ports without a router admin password. If an application supports automatic forwarding of ports, the users are likely to find the option in connection settings alongside the port configuration

NAT-PMP establishes network address translation settings and port forwarding configurations in an automated manner, but only a few routers support it.

If you use a program that doesn’t include integrated support for UPnP, never fear. You can use a program like UPnP PortMapper to quickly forward ports from a desktop application. You can forward any ports you like.

Conclusion

You can use any of the above listed method to recover router username and password. All of the above method are working and up to date with all routers. Once you recover router username and password its time to change the default username and password to make the login a bit more secure.

To change router’s default username and password follow the below steps.
